Celebrate Old Baldy’s 200th birthday with a full lineup of events throughout the year:

The Inaugural Lighting of Old Baldy is Friday, January 27th. Everyone is welcome to this free event.

Old Baldy’s 200th Birthday Party is Saturday, April 15th. Spend the afternoon celebrating and enjoy The Keeper’s Easter Egg Hunt. This is a free event to the public.

Explore the world of quilting May 10th-13th during Old Baldy Quilters Week. Special guests Susan Brubaker Knapp and Pepper Cory will be visiting with the Old Baldy Quilters. Reservations are required for workshops. Bring Mom on Saturday, May 13th to a special Mommy and Me Art and Tea. Enjoy a special treat on Old Baldy grounds and take home a one of a kind painted parasol. May 18th-20th is the Bald Head Island Fishing Rodeo. This is an exciting Bald Head Island event and traditional tournament held annually. In honor of our military, a Memorial Day Service and ceremony will be held on Old Baldy Grounds May 29th. This special event will include Bald Head Island’s Chapel choir, guest speakers, and color guard. Everyone is welcome to this free event. 

June 2nd-4th will be North Carolina Treasures Weekend including food, spirits, art, literature, and history. Shoals Club will host a VIP event Friday, June 2nd with special guests: Dean Neff of “PinPoint Restaurant”, Bob Timberlake and Kevin Duffus, and guest distillers. Reservations are required for this limited seating event. Enjoy a Gala in White at the Bald Head Island Club on Saturday, June 3rd. Reservations are required for this island tradition. Two bands will provide live entertainment and there will be a private meet & greet with Bob Timberlake, Kevin Duffus, and guest distillers. The Bald Head Island Club will host a special Art Show and Lecture by Bob Timberlake on June 4th. This will begin at 11am. 

Celebrate Independence Day on July 4th with a parade! The annual Golf Cart Parade takes place that morning and applications are required to participate. 

 National Lighthouse weekend

You can pay tribute to Old Baldy’s 200 years of maritime history on August 4th-6th during National Lighthouse weekend. You can’t go to the beach without making a sand castle! Put your castle skills to test with the Sand Sculpture Contest on August 4th from 9-11am. At 4pm, 5 people will participate in Old Baldy Buzz. Donations are collected since April and the individual with the most money gets buzzed. Enjoy colonial style samplings of food by colonial dressed servers for dinner at Shoals Club and a VIP event Culinary History Lecture. Reservations are required for the evening. August 5th will be a Duck Race, free to the public. From 5-11pm will be the Progressive Dinner Gala. First enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Old Baldy followed by dinner and dancing at the Bald Head Island Club. Reservations are required for the Gala. National Lighthouse Reenactment Day will be Sunday, August 6th. Guests will enjoy a Reenactment Day with a tribute to coast guard, lighthouse keepers, colonial living, pirates, civil war, and Old Baldy history. Next is the Run for the Light Night Run. Registration is required for these 10k, 5k, and 1 mile fun runs. Runners receive a headlamp and glow in the dark shirt and the race ends at the lighthouse. The evening will end with a Movie on Old Baldy at 8:30pm.

Celebrate Labor Day Weekend on Bald Head Island September 2nd and 3rd. Saturday will be a free “Then and Now” Home Tour and Sunday will be a Founders Tribute Brunch at the BHI Club. Go to Old Baldy Grounds on September 13th for Employee Appreciation Day. 

A much anticipated yearly event is the Southern Living Roast and Toast on the Coast which will be October 6th-8th. Friday is the Oyster Roast at BHI Club, reservations required, followed by a VIP Event Guest Chef Dinner at Shoals Club. Reservations are required for this event celebrating NC products and agriculture. Saturday is a free ceremony in Southport at Descendants Cemetery. Then make a reservation for the big Roast & Toast on the Coast and concert. Don’t miss brunch Sunday at the Bald Head Island Club. 

Enjoy a Merry Madness Sale Friday, November 24th with 20% off and refreshments available. Saturday, November 25th is the annual auction “Light up the Holidays Tree Auction” at Bald Head Island Club. Bid on decorated trees from businesses and families.
